What Does John 17:19 Mean and is Saying?

The word 'sanctify' means: 'set apart' and in this amazing high priestly prayer, where Jesus prays for his disciples to be 'set apart unto God' through the truth of the Word of God.. He also sanctifies Himself : For their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.
Jesus sanctified Himself to do the will of the Father. He set Himself apart unto God, in order to carry out the redemptive plans and purposes that God had prepared for Him to do - so that all who believe in Him might also be sanctified unto God.. set apart unto Him - to live and work to His praise and glory. Christ sanctified Himself so that all who believe on Him name might also be sanctified and set apart unto God - in truth.
The Lord Jesus was sent into a world of men as a Man - to be the perfect sinless Son of Man and to live a perfect sinless human life, so that the character and attributes of the one, eternal, omniscient, holy God might be revealed to the fallen race of man, through His only begotten Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.. Christ was set apart to be God's witness on earth... to represent God in the world and to become the federal-head of a new creation of people - to be sanctified unto God.
But the Lord Jesus also was given to the world to die for the sin of the whole world.. so that all who believe on His name might be sanctified and set apart unto God.. so that in His absence they too might become God's witness on earth... to represent God in this fallen world and to become a new creation in Christ - to be sanctified unto God.
Christ sanctified Himself to do the will of God on earth for our sakes and to set us an example of how God desires that man should live - i.e. in total dependence upon Him and willing to say. 'Thy will not mine be done'. Christ is the perfect pattern of a man, set apart unto God .. and He sanctified Himself, so that we might be sanctified in HIM - in spirit and in truth.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving Jesus to be my Saviour and thank You for sending Him to be my example and the pattern of how a man, sanctified unto God, should live. I pray that in the power of the Holy Spirit I may live my life sanctified unto God - walking in spirit and truth and living my life in total dependence upon You, to Your praise and glory -in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Finally, What Christian Leaders Asked Buhari To Do About Boko Haram, Killings

Buhari Meets CAN Leadership Behind Closed Door In Aso Rock
Buhari Meets CAN Leadership Behind Closed Door In Aso Rock

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Friday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency and issue of killings in the country.
CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, who led the body’s delegation to Aso Villa, urged the President to be the father of all Nigerians.

Ayokunle, who listed what the body expects from Buhari in his second term, also pointed out areas that need urgent attention.
These include the release of the remaining Chibok girls and Leah Sharibu from Boko Haram captivity, killings in Kaduna and other places, herdsmen/farmers clashes and kidnappings.
Ayokunle said: “We urge you to see yourself as a father to all by embracing all. We solicit for inclusiveness and fairness as you constitute your cabinet and appoint worthy Nigerians to the headship and membership of critical agencies, boards and parastatals.
“Your Excellency, there is no ethnic or religious group in Nigeria where you cannot find highly qualified men and women that you can engage to add value to your administration and help in moving the nation forward. This is the true and objective way in which you can give all in the country, a sense of belonging.
“We, from the Christian Association of Nigeria, recognize the importance of the National Assembly to the stability and growth of our polity. It is in this regard that we call for ethnic and religious balance with depth in picking the leadership of that great institution of democracy.
“Sir, to ensure that this happens is to remove any apprehension and suspicion harbored towards the leadership of this country. We equally solicit that the principle of separation of power as it is enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would be allowed to thrive as an intrinsic aspect of modern day democracy.

“We commend you especially for the revival of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) and the sincere efforts of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in ensuring that your passion to build peace through NIREC becomes a reality. We assure you of our determination to build peace, harmony and unity in our nation as we constantly dialogue with other religious groups in our nation.
“More importantly Sir, we solicit passionately for deliberate and relentless effort to free Leah Sharibu and other Chibok girls from captivity. Each passing day inflicts anguish in the hearts of the parents of this young girl, the rest of us who are parents, all Nigerians and others all over the world who love freedom and regret that Leah’s life is being wasted in captivity for no sin of hers other than for her religion.
“Doing all within you to free Leah Sharibu and according it top priority, shall confer greater credibility on your government and on you as a person. Please and please, Mr. President, let Leah Sharibu and those in captivity of insurgents be freed to enjoy their lives.
“Additionally sir, while we are thanking you for all your efforts at putting an end to bloodshed in the nation, we urge you to task the security agents to be more alive to their responsibilities by putting an end to insurgency, ethnic violence, kidnapping and herdsmen’s atrocities prevalent in our nation. Today, the Northwest of Nigeria which used to be peaceful is also witnessing violent activities.
“The unnecessary killings in Kaduna and the detention of some leaders of Ajara Chiefdom in Kaduna State since January should be addressed without delay to douse all tensions. All efforts today by all of us should be geared towards forgiving one another and reconciling with one another.”

“If you have not been trustworthy in the handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? (Luke 16:11).

Jesus said, “If you have not been trustworthy in the handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? (Luke 16:11).
I believe that many Christians assume that there is no connection between their spirituality and how they handle money. But in this verse, Jesus Christ is communicating that our faithfulness (or the lack thereof) in regard to money will significantly affect the extent to which God entrusts us with His “true riches.”
I believe that God’s “true riches”—that is,

“There is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.” - 1 Timothy 2:5–6

God commanded Israel not to acknowledge other gods, since He was the Savior who rescued them from Egypt, and thus it would be high treason to devote themselves to other deities (Ex. 20:1–3). But the Lord also gave the first commandment because He is actually the only God who is. Even those, like Cyrus the Great, who think they are serving other gods are actually serving Yahweh,

Psalm 62:11 - God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.

Psalm 62:11 - God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.

David wrote this text at a time when he was desperate and on the run for his life. His enemies (evil men) were threatening to topple him as king and they were seeking ways to kill him.

We all will face times when we will come under attack of our enemies, but, like David, we have a shelter to run to in God. Psalm 46:1-God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble.

We may speak many times and never be heard,

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.- Psalm 62:7

My Dear in Him,
Believe today and trust in the rock that is always there for you in the time of trouble.
That Rock is Jesus . Confess and believe that with Him you are victorious and you will see yourself winning all battle and challenges of life.

Solid rock is known for its strength, immobility, and ability to provide protection against an attack. In ancient times, fortresses were made of rock to keep their occupants safe, and during battles entire armies could hide inside for protection. In times of trouble so severe that we feel like running away and hiding, we can take refuge in Christ. When we depend on Him, He is our rock and our safe place.

There are many places in the Bible where God is referred to as a rock, and for good reason. Depending on ourselves for our own security is risky; the unexpected could happen and knock down our fragile, perceived sense of safety. God is immovable and unshakeable, and we can hide in Him when danger is near.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength,

What does it mean that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord?

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” At its core, sin is rebellion against God. Our sin separates us from God, the creator and sustainer of life. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6a). God is known as the great “I AM.” Life is in God. So, when we sin and become separated from God, we become separated from true life. Therefore, perforce, we experience death. Three points of clarification are needed:

First, sin does not necessarily result in physical death right away. Romans 6 is not telling us that when we sin we will physically die. Rather, it is referring to spiritual death.

Second, when we are saved in Christ,

Why Did God Decided to Choose Israel?

The Bible has a lot about the people of Israel being God’s chosen people. But He loves and has a plan for all people, so why did God choose Israel?

The Scriptures are quite clear that among all the nations in the world, God chose Israel as the one He would work with. This was the nation that God delivered out of slavery in Egypt, the nation to whom God gave the land of Canaan, and the nation through whom would come Jesus, the Messiah. Was there something special about these people unlike others?

The Surest and Quickest Way to Get Rich According to the Bible Without Offending Others

Do you want to earn more money than what you can spend? Do you want to have the latest gadgets, cars, big mansions, and lots of properties? How about travel around the world and go to every tourist destination? Do you want never to worry about where you will find your next meal, the clothes you wear, or the shelter to live?
Well, I guess all of these are what the rich people have. No wonder many of us want to get rich. We want to experience all the best things this life could offer through the power of money. However, many people go down to their graves poor.
Do you know what the Bible say about the best way to get rich? You can even get rich instantly right now if you know the answer to this question. It sounds so good to be true, right? But what if I can tell you that this is possible. Do you want to know the answer? If yes, then continue reading.

The best and quickest way to get rich

Read this verse carefully:
Now godliness with CONTENTMENT is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” (I Timothy 6:6-10).
According to the Bible, the best and quickest way to get rich is to be content! The richest men on earth are not the ones who are in the top 10 list of Forbes Magazine. The richest men in the world are not the top CEOs of multi-national companies. The richest men are not the ones you see in many wealth and success magazines. They are actually the people who are contented with their lives.
In the eyes of this world, your wealth is based on the money and possession that you have. In the eyes of God, material possessions are basically nothing. True wealth is not about having all the money in the world. It is actually how much you have followed the will of God and fulfilled His purpose for your life.

The greedy trap

Greediness is among the greatest sins. It is about GETTING rather than giving. It is all about the self and not others.
When I was a fresh graduate, I was happy with my small salary. Then I get a raise within just a few months. My work is output base – meaning I earn more if I work more. So I work more hours just to make more to the point that I neglected my health and social life. The more I earn, the more urge I have to work harder. It seems that I can’t get enough knowing that I can still get more. This mentally has plagued my mind until I decided to stop pursuing money.
I forget: I live not to work, but I work to live. In the process of wanting to earn more, I have sacrificed a lot of the things that really make me happy. Though I have more money, at the end, I realize, I lost more things than what I have gained.
There is wisdom to what Paul has said. Those who desire to be rich will fall into various temptations and will eventually lose their focus to the things that matter most. Jesus said:

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)
If your primary goal in this life is to get rich, then you are missing the whole point of living. You are wasting so much of your time and energy in getting rich that you will inevitably just end up empty and dissatisfied.
There is a spiritual void in our hearts that material wealth will never be able to fill. We tend to be so busy that we forget how to live this life. If only all people get wealthy, they will soon discover that money is not everything.
There are a lot of rich individuals who are depressed, divorced, isolated, and even die of drug abuse. Is this really the path that you wanted to take?

True contentment

We need to note that Paul said, “GODLINESS with contentment”. We need to realize that our contentment must be coupled with godliness.
Godly contentment is about doing our best while letting God take care of the rest. This type of contentment means that we don’t just lie around in our bed all day because we are “contented” with our lives. No, it doesn’t say.

There are a lot of godly and biblical principles that we can read from the Bible about accumulating wealth. In fact, we see some servants of God who are rich. One good example is Abraham, who was considered to be a mighty prince and a very wealthy man (Genesis 13:2).
God is not against getting rich and doing your best to have a better standard of living. God is not against doing our best to prepare for the rainy days of our lives. The whole point of this verse is about setting our RIGHT priorities in life. If you put more importance on pursuing wealth rather than the will of God, then we are not following this verse.
As long as you live and you follow God’s instructions and commandments, He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will take care all of your needs and even the desires of your hearts. This is what godly contentment really means: It is having the confidence that God is the greatest source of your blessings.

How will contentment make you rich?

Maybe you are disappointed that your definition of being rich is not really how the Bible defines it. Perhaps, you are still dreaming of all the benefits of having a lot of money. This is only natural. However, to be truly rich, you need to be contented first.

No amount of money in this world can satisfy the greediness of human nature. When you finally get “enough” money, you suddenly feel that it is not enough. We will never get to the point that we have enough. This is why I always marvel at our politicians here in the Philippines who are already rich and yet they still choose to steal money from the people. Why would they steal money when they already are wealthy? The answer is greed.
If you are content with your life, you will instantly become rich – richer than all the greedy wealthy people on earth. For individuals who are contented with their lives, they have “enough”. They are rich not because they have plenty of money, but because they have placed their trust in God.
The Bible tells us:

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE WILL YOUR HEART BE ALSO” (Matthew 6:19).
If there’s a type of wealth that will never be taken from us, it will be the spiritual wealth we have accumulated in heaven. Christians who are rich in God are richer than the richest man on earth. Those people who put their trusts in their material wealth are only rich during this lifetime. When they die, they will not be able to bring with them all their money. But for Christians, they will be both rich today and rich in the life to come.
Closing remarks
All the material wealth on this earth will pass away. Thus, we are urged to “not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are TEMPORARY but the things which are not seen are ETERNAL” (II Corinthians 4:16-18).

As Christians, Jesus Christ revealed what our top priority in our lives should be:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and ALL these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
Our reward can come as physical blessings during this lifetime. Nevertheless, on top of that, we will have an eternal reward when Christ will finally return and establish His Kingdom here on earth. This reward is GREATER than all the physical wealth combined. Now, I don’t know what you call that, but for me, that is true richness! If you have this hope, you will surely have the blessed and godly contentment in your heart. When you have this, you will inevitably become one of the richest men on earth!

Lord, may nothing separate me from You today. Teach me how to choose only Your way today so each step will lead me closer to You. Help me walk by the Word and not my feelings. Help me to keep my heart pure and undivided. Protect me from my own careless thoughts, words, and actions. 10 Biblical Sure Ways to know your wife

Do you really know your wife? Did you know that God commands you to know your wife? What does it mean as a Christian husband to know your wife? These are some questions I will try to answer in this next post in this series “How to be a godly husband”.
One of the best passages in all the Bible that speaks to a husband’s responsibilities to his wife is found in I Peter chapter 3.
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” – I Peter 3:7(KJV)

What does “dwell” mean?

West African Court Faults and Strongly Condemn Government of Nigeria for Failing to Stop Killings in Benue State

JOSNigeria, March 6, 2019 (Morning Star News) – The government of Nigeria failed to protect people massacred by Muslim Fulani herdsmen in predominantly Christian areas of Benue state in 2016 and should prosecute those responsible, a West African court has ruled.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court of Justice on Feb. 26 ordered the government to investigate the attacks that killed more than 300 Christians and destroyed property in the Agatu area, identify and prosecute the perpetrators and redress victims.
“The Nigerian government was in violation of its obligation to protect the human rights of these communities,” the three judges stated in their unanimous verdict.
The court also ordered Nigeria’s government to take urgent measures to protect Christians in the area by deployment of soldiers and

What the Bible Adviced About Protecting Yourself From Sexual Sin

In light of the recent scandals surrounding allegations of sexual impropriety, turning to scripture could keep the married and single alike on the right track.
Vice President Mike Pence was ridiculed when it was revealed that he makes an effort never to be alone with a woman who is not his wife.
But the Bible gives clear guidance on how to avoid sexual sin.
For example, 1 Corinthians 6:18 admonishes, "Flee from sexual immorality.  All other sins a person commits are outside the body,
but whosoever sins sexually, sins against their own body."
The word "flee" means to run away.
And in Exodus 20:14 the Commandment is: "You shall not commit adultery."
A big part of the problem in straying from marriage vows is pornography.
Surveys show about two-thirds of all American men regularly view porn and the rate is about he same for Christian men.
The digital age has made the problem even more pervasive and available than ever before.  People access pornographic images on their smartphones and other devices at alarming rates.
The Bible does not mention pornography specifically but it does state that when a married man keeps on looking at a woman to whom he is not married, nurturing a desire to have sex with her, it can lead to adultery.
"You have heard  that it was said, "You shall not commit adultery.  But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart," states Matthew 5:27 and 28.
The principle behind this verse applies to anyone, married or single because such behavior is clearly offensive to God.
Colossians 3:5 also warns, "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry."
Taking the time to read, meditate on and live out what God shows us in his word is not easy. It iwll take time and practice.  But following his plan for our lives can help us to learn to love what is good. The more we do so, the deeper our love for His standards will grow.
And in the end, it may help save marriages from the sexual destruction we're seeing in our culture today.

7 Sure Ways to Resist Temptation

Each one of us have certain sins that are particularly troubling to us. Every Christian faces temptation, and the devil is very good at finding our weakest points and seducing us with them, whether that be sexual sin, sins of anger, jealousy, covetousness, laziness, pride, insecurity, worry, or any others. It’s important to make a distinction between temptation and sin. Temptation can lead to sin. However, Jesus never sinned and yet experienced every temptation we do (Heb. 4:15). Therefore one of the ways to battle sin is to know how to resist temptation.

1. Pray as Jesus taught, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Matt. 6:13).

When the disciples kept succumbing to sleep while Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus told them to “watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation” (Matt. 26:41). Apart from God, we have no hope of resisting temptation. This is why humble prayer must be our constant companion. Praying as Jesus taught us in the Lord’s prayer that God would “lead us not into temptation” is praying for our deliverance from even facing temptation. Praying with others is also a great way to help you keep in the practice of prayer. Another way is to ask trusted friends and counselors for prayer for protection from specific besetting sins.

2. Know yourself well.

As the phrase from The Art of War goes, “Know your enemy.” Knowing the enemy is a crucial aspect of any battle. In the Christian life, we have many enemies, one of which is our old corrupt nature that lingers within us (Rom. 7:21-23; Eph. 4:22).
It may seem odd, but we must make a study of ourselves. Personality, circumstances, disposition, and life experiences are all factors that can make us more susceptible to certain kinds of temptations. How can we be on guard for something unless we know what we are looking for?

3. Learn to recognize temptation.

Temptation is, well, tempting. It presents something to us as pleasant, true, or both. We want to give in because it presents something to us that pulls on our desires and presents us with something that seems good.
But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. (James 1:14-16)
The problem is that in the moment of temptation, we might not at first recognize that what is before us leads to sin. We can combat this by learning to recognize temptation when it comes along. We can also prevent it by filling ourselves with the things God tells us in his Word are good and fruitful things (1 Tim. 6:11). We need to faithfully sit under the teaching of the Word so we can get better and better at discerning when we are being tempted.

4. Take preventative action.

If you know certain situations will bring you into temptation (going to a bar, going online by yourself, watching certain movies, being around certain people, etc) take preventative action and avoid those things. Like Joseph who fled from Potiphar’s wife when she tried to seduce him, we must sometimes simply run away or avoid the things that tempt us.

5. Quote Scripture to yourself.

When Jesus was tempted by the devil, the devil quoted the Bible to Jesus hoping to trick him by sounding good and pious. Jesus’ response was to quote Scripture right back at the devil, showing the devil’s twisted and wrongful use of God’s own words (Matt. 4:5-7). The Word is also called the “sword of the Spirit” by Paul (Eph. 6:17), and we can use it to battle those things that tempt us.

6. Rest.

We are more susceptible to temptation when we are exhausted. When we are tired we are weakened and so more vulnerable to the deceptions of the devil. Rest is very important for our spirituality, and we must be extra vigilant when are tired, asking the Lord for extra strength to resist temptation.

7. Remember there is always a way of escape.

God never allows us to be tempted beyond what we can take but always provides us with a way out.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Cor. 10:13)
He also gives us himself without limit to call upon his strength for resistance and endurance. “God has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Josh. 1:5; Heb. 13:5). He also gives us his church, a community of fellow fighters, to help us in our battles. We need to take full advantage of these resources God provides so that we can effectively turn away from sin and be filled more and more with the goodness and grace of God.
